PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN CHILD’S EDUCATION

Your involvement in your child’s education is key to his or her success. We appreciate your positive obligation in your child’s education.

Performance of a student primarily depends on regular attendance in the school. Make sure that your child arrives in school everyday at 08:15 am so as to remain updated with daily class proceedings.

Absentee students fall behind their fellow classmates in daily class lectures and practices. Students having an average of more than 90% class attendance usually remain at par with term syllabi and their performance in class test, project work and term exam demonstrate best achievements.

Personal Appearance of a student recognizes the critical importance of its educational mission to promote academic achievement and a harmonized environment at school campus. All students who attend school are expected to dress in proper school attire. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure compliance with the dress code.

Support your child’s learning experience. Respond to your child’s inquisitive behaviour and coach accordingly. Set time aside each evening to review your child’s homework together. Make this positive daily experience.

Harvard Elementary School is an English Medium School. The students are not allowed to speak Bangla in school premises so as to help them develop the skills of expression in English language. Students are however, allowed to speak and exercise on Bangla language in relevant class.

Provide a quiet place for your child to study and complete homework assignments. Be sure to turn off the television and other distractions. Read storybooks to your child a few minutes each day or ask your child to read to you. Ask questions as you read together. This exercise will improve your child’s expression in English and Refined Bengali languages. Encourage your children to read storybooks of their age and interest at home during spare time. Persuade them to read articles of their interest in Junior Sections of the English/Bangla Newspaper and become a member of that section for exercising on writing skills.

Be a role model for your child. Be sure your child sees you reading in your leisure time and socialize with well-mannered persons. Avoid watching ill-cultured Cable programs. Orient your child about the unpleasantness of cultural infiltration. Let them learn the values of indigenous culture and educate balancing with foreign culture in good spirit.

Attend all parent-teacher conferences to ascertain your child’s performance and ways to improve performance. Share your opinions and gain insight.

Volunteer in your child’s bed/study room. Monitor their leisure time with friends. Maintain specific schedules to ensure their watching of age-appropriate programs on Cable Channels or CD’s as well as games on Home PC/Internet. Avoid watching TV programs or CD-DVD movies with your children that are detrimental to development of personal character and conducive to moral degradation. Please monitor and restrict activities wherever, whenever and whatever they watch or play. Develop a bond of mutual relationship based on respect and trust for guiding your children to a healthy and sociable normal life.

Physical exercise is essential for maintaining good health. Games are attended and synchronized by the teachers on duty so that the plays involve physical fitness. Allow them to play physical games in the afternoon in playground of your area.

Attend special events at the school.

Let our united efforts be the wisdom of growing your children with constancy in learning and purpose to lead an enlightened and meaningful life.
